Museum opening and heritage trail 8 & 9th June 2019

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th are key dates in the Sea Mills 100 Calendar. Our mini-museum on the Square will open on Saturday and remain for at least a year.

Our heritage trail, devised by local residents will be open over the weekend. Visitors will be able to tour Sea Mills and find out who lived in some of the houses when they were first built.

It’s almost here. June 2019 will see in the 100th anniversary of the Sea Mills estate and we will be celebrating with a series of events over the weekend of the 8th and 9th June.

  2. Can i comment on your list of shops on the Square
My Dad Les Linsley bought the fish shop from Mr Berry in 66 It was already both a fishmonger and fish and chips
    Dad sold it in 72
I remember so many names on that list
The Searchfield Girls ( as they were known!! )
    Mr Eddy
    Mr Hallet
    So nice to have found
    Thank you

    1. Hi Angela,
Thanks so much for the information, it’s wonderful to hear from you. There is no written history at the moment but we are working on something in the form of a booklet which will be published next year. Would you like to contribute? Can you email me at info@seamills100.co.uk
      Mary

  3. My parents owned The Progress Inn at Seamills in the mid seventies when I was 4 or 5. i remember the pub being huge and sitting on the dukebox listening to my favourite music while my parents bottled up. There was a huge flat roof at the back where i rode my bike and an even bigger garden. I remember going to Nursery and going to primary school nearby and there was a shop opposite the pub that sold Blackberry Farm books and little copper models. I remember there being Lilly of the Valley in the woods but I don’t know whether the woods are still there now? I am quite fascinated that Seamills has such an interesting history but didn’t realise there were 100 year celebrations until afterwards.
